Police find daughter of woman found dead

A 19-year-old woman has been found alive in another state after police found her mother's body in a Missouri home, tipped off by a Facebook posting that indicated one of the women was dead, police said Monday.

Deputy Cathy Ussery of the Greene County Sheriff's Office said concerned friends reached out to police Sunday after the "strange" message was posted on a Facebook profile shared by 48-year-old Claudinnea "Dee Dee" Blancharde and her daughter, Gypsy Blancharde.

Police found Dee Dee Blancharde on Sunday in her Springfield home. Ussery said she had suffered a "violent assault." The daughter was not home.

Ussery said Gypsy Blancharde was found shortly after 10 a.m. Monday in a home in another state, but she declined to say where or with whom.

However, officials in Wisconsin have said they found a woman reported missing by the Greene County Sheriff's Office. Deputy Jennifer Wallschlaeger of the Waukesha County Sheriff's Department, near Milwaukee, said she could not immediately confirm whether the woman is Gypsy Blancharde.

Police found the woman and a man from Big Bend believed to be with her. Both are being held for questioning by Greene County officers, Lt. Patrick Esser of Waukesha County said in a statement.

Ussery said police used social media and phone calls to track Blancharde down. She said she didn't know if the younger woman required medical treatment, but that she has several medical issues and uses a wheelchair.

The deputy said a person of interest is in custody and that Missouri police would interview that person, along with Gypsy Blancharde. Ussery said she did not know whether the person of interest was related to or known by the mother and daughter.

"There's still a lot of unknowns in this case," Ussery said.

An autopsy is scheduled for Monday afternoon. Ussery said preliminary results are expected within two days.
