BizBeat: Rue21 en route to Capital Mall

A new rue21 store is making its way to Capital Mall, with an opening set for this fall.

Jefferson City issued a building permit to Capital Mall on June 9 for interior demolition of spaces 114 and 116 inside the mall to make room for a future rue21 store.

Rue21 is a national retailer of women's and men's clothing for teenagers and young adults.

Representatives of Farmer Holding Company, which owns Capital Mall, did not respond to calls requesting comment.

Rue21 would be the second national retailer to announce plans to locate in Capital Mall this year: the Ross department store, whose building expansion is underway, is set to open in a 24,000-square-foot space between the mall's JCPenney and Sears wings by the end of August.
