Missouri River search for capsized craft comes up empty

COLUMBIA, Mo. (AP) - Crews who searched the Missouri River for a capsized boat found nothing.

The Columbia Missourian (http://bit.ly/1L77FWg ) reports that the search began Friday afternoon after Cooper County dispatchers received a 911 call.

Three boats and a helicopter looked in the area between Rocheport and Huntsdale. Boone County Fire Protection District Battalion Chief Gale Blomenkamp says the effort was called off about an hour and a half when there were no other sightings of the boat.

Fire Protection District Assistant Chief Doug Westhoff says that with the river running high, it would be easy to mistake debris in the water for a boat.
