Driver falls asleep; two Freeburg men injured

Two Freeburg men were injured in a one-vehicle accident at 5:15 a.m. Thursday on U.S. 50, west of Murphy Ford in Cole County.

According to the Missouri Highway Patrol report, a 2000 Chevrolet S10, driven westbound by Gregory M. Welschmeyer, 18, went off the left side of the road and overturned when Welschmeyer fell asleep.

Welschmeyer, who was not wearing a seat belt, and a passenger, Samuel J. Welschmeyer, 24, who was wearing a seat belt, were taken to Capital Region Medical Center in Jefferson City.

• A Fulton woman was treated for moderate injuries after a one vehicle crash in Clay County, near Kansas City on Friday morning.

Patrol reports show Wilma Johnson, 63, was on I-35 when she went off the road and struck a tree.

She was wearing a seat belt.
