Woman receives probation in 2013 robbery case

A Jefferson City woman charged in conjunction with a robbery in June 2013 in the 1200 block of East Capitol Avenue has been placed on five years supervised probation.

Before Cole County Presiding Judge Pat Joyce, Samantha Brown, 26, pleaded guilty to possession of methamphetamine. Charges of possession of a weapon and possession of drug paraphernalia were dismissed.

The SWAT (Special Weapons and Tactics Division) team served a search warrant after an investigation suggested methamphetamine was being used and sold at the residence.

Brown was one of 10 subjects taken into custody, and three of the four initial robbery suspects were arrested, with aid from the Cole County Sheriff's Department. The fourth robbery suspect was arrested, after driving by the scene.

The state children's division placed an infant in protective custody and a teenage girl was taken to the Prenger Family Center.

Later, the city code enforcement inspected and condemned the house.

According to police reports, three alleged victims arrived at the location to collect $20 owed to them, where four suspects robbed them at gunpoint.

Two of the three reported victims fled while the third was held at gunpoint and the other suspects emptied his pockets.
