McCaskill: East School to get classroom computers

Jefferson City's East Elementary School is one of five schools in the state slated to receive five used computers, as a part of the U.S. Senate's "Computers for Schools" program, U.S. Sen. Claire McCaskill announced Tuesday.

"Technology is a critical component of education today," McCaskill said in a news release. "This program connects young Missouri students with technology that can enhance classroom learning and boost the life skills needed to succeed in the 21st Century."

Each school will receive five HP8000 Small Form Factor computers that no longer are being used in Senate offices.

As part of the program, each participating U.S. Senate office distributes 25 computers to schools in their home state.

In addition to East Elementary, schools receiving the computers include: Center Middle School, Kansas City; Lake Road Elementary, Poplar Bluff; Lexington Elementary, St. Louis; and Weaver Elementary, Springfield.
