The Helias Catholic High School Academic Team competed at the 2015 High School National Championship Tournament Saturday in Rosemont, Illinois.
The top 271 high school quiz bowl teams competed using buzzer systems to answer questions about science, math, history, literature, mythology, geography, social science, current events, sports, and popular culture.
The Helias team was captained by Morgan Johns, who was joined by Annie Donovan, Zach Gaines, Stephen Hirsch and Kate Robbins. The team's coach was Shelley Swoyer, who was assisted by Paula Zeitz.
One of 11 Missouri teams there, Helias finished the preliminary rounds with a 5-5 record and ended with a 7-7 record, ending their shot at the play offs.
The event also featured an exhibition match with the first computer capable of playing quiz bowl versus a team of quiz bowl alumni and Jeopardy! champions.
