2 in custody for JC robbery and kidnapping case

Two people are in custody in connection with a robbery and kidnapping that took place last week in Jefferson City.

According to police reports, a 27-year-old Jefferson City man was the victim in the incident that took place in the 2000 block of St. Louis Road, just after midnight last Friday.

During the incident, two suspects robbed the victim of $35 in cash, then drove to St. Louis with the victim at gunpoint.

Once in St. Louis, the victim was shot once in the head and the suspects fled.

The victim survived and was able to advise investigators of the robbery and kidnapping that took place in Jefferson City.

St. Louis Police detectives contacted Jefferson City police detectives to cooperate in the case, resulting in information that led JCPD detectives to contact one of the suspects in Jefferson City.

That suspect, Brooklynn E. Stevenson, an 18-year-old Jefferson City female, was taken into custody on Wednesday.

Thursday, Steveneson was charged with first-degree robbery, kidnapping and two counts of armed criminal action.

Court documents show Stevenson told authorities she invited the victim to her house and admitted that she "set him up."

Stevenson also admitted holding a firearm to the victim's torso during the kidnapping and drive to St. Louis, but was not the shooter in the St. Louis incident.

The other suspect is currently incarcerated in another jurisdiction for a separate crime, and he will be interviewed by detectives sometime today.

The victim is expected to recover from the shooting, but was still hospitalized as of Thursday, and was believed to have been shot as the result of narcotic related activity.
