Schnucks now to accept Apple Pay

Checking out groceries at a Schnucks store just got a whole lot easier.

The St. Louis-based retailer now accepts Apple Pay at all 98 store locations across five states, according to a news release. Shoppers can forego their wallets and now use their iPhone, Apple Watch or iPad to pay in a simple, secure and private way.

Schnucks completed the new payment terminal rollout to all stores in June and was certified by Apple earlier this month.

A Schnucks spokesman said payments using Apple Pay are extremely secure. A device account number is assigned at the register. This number, along with a transaction-specific dynamic security code, is used to process payment so the actual credit or debit card numbers are never shared by Apple or transmitted with payment.

This feature is available on iPhone 6, Apple Watch, iPad Air 2 and iPad Mini 3.
