Sam's Club celebrated its grand opening in Jefferson City on Thursday.
The membership-only retail warehouse, located at 849 Stoneridge Pky., has been under construction since last fall, and the Sam's Club fuel station opened on the property July 7.
The local Sam's Club offers fresh meat, dairy, bakery and produce departments, as well as a cafe serving fresh food and take-and-bake meals. It also features health and wellness services including a full-service pharmacy, optical center and hearing center, as well as a digital photo processing center, floral department, apparel and accessories, and a tire and auto battery center.
At Thursday's grand opening ceremony, Sam's Club introduced itself to the community by awarding a total of $25,000 in grants among local nonprofit organizations including Jefferson City Public Schools, Capital City Area Council for Special Services, Central Missouri Community Action, Dental Eye and Shoe Program, Dreams to Reality, Gateway Industries of Eldon, Grace Lutheran Church, Heart of MO Humane Society of Jefferson City, Lincoln University, Missouri Valley Big Brothers Big Sisters, Moniteau Christian Ministries Center Inc., Osage County R-2 School District and Wonderland Camp Foundation.
Sam's Club shopping is available only to people who have purchased an annual membership. But the retailer does offer a free one-day pass for non-members to visit the club, available online at samsclub.com or at the local club's Member Service desk.
The Jefferson City Sam's Club is open from 10 a.m.-8:30 p.m. Monday through Friday, 9 a.m.-8:30 p.m. Saturday and 10 a.m.-6 p.m. Sunday.
