Grand jury indicts four on drug, assault charges

The Cole County grand jury has indicted four area residents on a variety of charges.

The grand jury indicted:

• A Jefferson City woman on multiple charges of selling drugs in the Capital City in June. Cierra Dixon, 30, of 224 W. Atchison St., is charged with one count of second-degree drug trafficking, three counts of selling cocaine and one count of maintaining a public nuisance. Court documents show Dixon sold cocaine to a confidential police informant three times between June 21 and June 24. A search of Dixon's residence found approximately 170 grams of cocaine, two digital scales, packaging materials and weapon accessories. The indictment indicates the grand jury found there was enough evidence to send the case on to circuit court for possible trial.

• A Russellville man charged in connection with an assault in June. Brett Bergman, 23, is charged with first-degree domestic assault and armed criminal action. Records show the incident occurred in the 5400 block of Simpson Street in Russellville. The female victim was found in a bedroom with the side of her face swollen and several lacerations on her arms. Bergman had a fractured right hand. When asked if he could remember what happened, Bergman said he couldn't remember much after leaving a bar in Russellville, but did say he thought the female victim was cheating on him. He did remember having a conflict with the victim in a bedroom, and authorities found blood on the floor along with a wooden furniture leg with blood and hair that matched the victim's.

• A Jefferson City woman who was charged after a drug bust in April. Jodi Heard, 33, of 1324 E. Miller St., is charged with one count of possession of methamphetamine with intent to distribute. MUSTANG officers executed a narcotics and stolen property search warrant at 625 Norris Drive, where Heard was taken into custody. During a search of that residence, officers found a bag containing 2.25 grams of meth and packaging materials. In Heard's purse, officers found $496 in cash.

• A Jefferson City man charged after a drug bust at his home in June. Troy Funk, 36, of 419 Crystal View Terrace, is charged with two counts of possession of a controlled substance. When the search warrant was served at the residence, authorities found several pills of the controlled substances Alprazolam and Clonazepam along with drug paraphernalia and a digital scale, police said. Neighborhood residents had been complaining to authorities about frequent traffic in and out of the residence at all hours of the day and night. Funk told authorities he was "just trying to help people out and probably shouldn't be letting those kind of people come to his house."
