Your Opinion: Senator ignores LGBTQ issues

Dear Editor:

Missouri Sen. Roy Blunt, champion of the "pain-capable" fetus, voted last week not to get involved in the nationwide problem of our lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender and queer youth being victimized by bullies. Call out the troops to save the almighty fetus, but turn away when wolves attack a full-fledged child.

Our collective LGBTQ youth are subject to name-calling, social media stalking, physical battering, exclusion, emotional abuse and are all too often driven to suicide because Blunt and his ilk model their warped set of "values."

What's missing from Blunt's tediously monotonous posturing is any semblance of humanity.

The National Organization for Women embraces our lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, queer and intersex youth and values them for who they innately are. We advocate loving protection of all children, appreciation of their uniqueness, and generous nurturing of their potential.

Our family values are real and tangible, unlike Blunt's, which are mere vapor.
