Your Opinion: Concrete trail at Noren opposed

Dear Editor:

This letter is to comment on the proposed concrete boardwalk at the Noren access. My understanding is it will extend to the first primitive campsite.

I don't understand how one person (Mr. Mudd) can come up with this idea and everyone jumps at it without any input from people who actually use the access. I am there quite often, and I can say that the activity there is at the landing and shoreline. Why not improve that area and make it more family friendly.

Mudd says the concrete will make it more accessible in inclement weather.

Who would be out there in a rainstorm or snow, especially someone with a disability. Mr. Stucky said the parks department fought tooth and nail with Joe Wilson to have the access built in the first place.

I've talked to Mr. Wilson and that is not true at all. Joe Wilson has nothing but the best of intentions for that area.

To try and marginalize Joe Wilson in order to push this project through is unfair to everyone. There was a proposal to build a pavilion at that site, which I believe would be a great attraction to have family activities there. What happened to that?

How "bout someone coming up with a comprehensive plan for the Noren access.

I think piecemeal projects end up a mess. Sounds to me like the Big Idea Sharing network is great for the chamber of commerce, not so great for us common folk.
