JC man charged with burglarizing house twice in same day

A Jefferson City man is charged with breaking into a home twice in one day.

Shelby Fisher, 23, is charged with one count of first-degree burglary, one count of second-degree burglary and one count of resisting arrest.

According to court records, Fisher broke into a home in the 1000 block of Geneva Street around 1:30 p.m. then, after bonding out of jail, broke into the same residence approximately two hours later.

During the second burglary, Fisher and the occupants of the home confronted each other, eventually ending up with the residents arming themselves with a shovel and threatening force if Fisher didn't leave, which Fisher did through an open garage door.

Court records show Fisher has a history of abusing prescription medications and suicidal thoughts, including stating he wanted to commit "suicide by a cop."
