Good finish for Franks in Stroke Play Championship

ST. JOSEPH - Kory Franks finished in the tie for sixth as the Missouri Stroke Play Championship wrapped up Thursday at the St. Joseph Country Club.

Franks, who opened with a 1-over 72 on Tuesday and followed it up with a 1-under 70 on Wednesday, followed it up with 36 holes Thursday in a total of 4 over to close at 4 over for the tournament.

Joe Migdal of Ballwin won the title with a four-round total of 274, good enough for 10 under. Travis Mays of Overland Park, Kan., finished three strokes back at 277. Brad Nurski (278) of St. Joseph was third, Sam Migdal (284) of Ballwin was fourth and Joey Johnson (287) of Ozark was fifth.

Also in a tie with Franks were Mitchell Mather of Lebanon, the Missouri Amateur Champion, and Steve Groom of Raytown.
