Five federal warrants were issued in Callaway County early Thursday morning.
Three of the warrants were issued for personal residences in Fulton and near Williamsburg while the other two were issued to businesses located in Holts Summit and Fulton, Callaway County Sheriff Dennis Crane said. Police cruisers and Callaway County Sheriff Department vehicles were seen at a business located at 601 Airway Drive in Fulton. The business in Holts Summit was determined to be a smoke shop, Crane said.
The Callaway County Sheriff Department, Fulton Police Department and Missouri State Highway Patrol are assisting the Drug Enforcement Agency and the Internal Revenue Service in issuing the warrants, Crane said.
Although Crane could not comment further on the nature of the warrants, law enforcement in Holts Summit said that Smokin J's, located at 1653 Halifax Road, has been raided for drugs in the past.
No one has currently been arrested or charged during the ongoing investigation, spokesman for the U.S. Attorneys Office Don Ledford said.
Additional information concerning the nature of the warrants wasn't immediately available.
