Your Opinion: Of phone books and plastic bags

Dear Editor:

It is this citizen's understanding that the new telephone books have been delivered to their customers. They were delivered one or two weeks ago. However, none have been delivered to the home of this resident. Must she wait until next year's directory is printed and is forthcoming? Upon learning that the printing is just as small and hard to read as in the past, I have been forewarned it might be necessary to buy a pair of field glasses to read the still-if not smaller-wording.

This female sees cleverness and truthfulness in the art talents displayed by illustrator Jim Dyke with his cartoons hitting the mark every time. One or two male readers criticize his subject matters; that is their right but many more of us applaud his ability to deliver what most of the readers know is true. More readers should open their eyes and minds to cartoons.

His Independence Day "The Land of the Free" drawing really hit the nail on the head depicting in particular the sign "No Plastic Bags." I was in a store not too long ago where I was performing somewhat of a hesitation waltz when it would be necessary for me to retrieve the rolling across the floor Brazil nuts. This could not be happening to me but it did and was. The plastic bag had been picked up that I has scooped the items into without realizing the one or two holes at the bottom. I looked down at the problem confronting me and realized I had a problem on my hands.

The personable police officers had come onto the scene and lent their very able assistance. They has them picked up in no time at all. They would not take any money from me.

The public should be made aware of the good things that officers perform in their line of serving the citizens. All the criticism is not warranted and this citizen applauds the good guys.
