Three area players set for Missouri Women's Amateur

A trio of area players will be bidding for the title in the Missouri Women's Golf Association's 77th Amateur Championship starting Monday.

Brooke Thompson of Jefferson City, Lauren Plunkett of Eugene and Taylor Hayes of Lake Ozark are among the entered competitors for the event. It will be played at the Country Club of St. Albans in St. Albans.

Thompson is paired with Kailie Kuehn of Overland Park, Kan., and Amy Schumacher of Ozark. Plunkett is in the same group with Julie Frank and Nancy Walther of St. Louis. Hayes is scheduled to play alongside Carmen Titus of Kansas City and Sarah Bell of Jackson.

Thompson, a former Jefferson City Lady Jay who has signed to play at Bradley, and Hayes were recently members of Team Missouri that took the title in the Four State Championship at Oak Hills Country Club in Omaha, Neb. Hayes was the medalist in the event, carding a two-day total of 157.

Ellen Port of St. Louis is the defending champion in the event and will be shooting for her 10th overall title in the tournament.

The tournament is a three-day, 54-hole stroke play event.
