Cardinals recall relievers Tuivailala, Greenwood from minors

PITTSBURGH (AP) - The St. Louis Cardinals recalled relievers Sam Tuivailala and Nick Greenwood from Triple-A Memphis on Saturday to bolster the bullpen for the final two games before the All-Star break.

Right-hander Mitch Harris was placed on the disabled list and first baseman Xavier Scruggs was sent down to Memphis.

Tuivailala, a right-hander, is back with the Cardinals for the third time this season, and is 0-1 with a 6.00 ERA in three appearances. Left-hander Greenwood was 7-3 with a 5.42 ERA in Triple-A while working as a starter since mid-May.

Harris, a right-hander, strained his right groin while in the bullpen Friday.

Scruggs was hitting .262 with nine RBIs over 57 at bats in 26 games for the Cardinals.

The Cardinals began the day with a major league-best 56-31 record, but Pittsburgh (51-35) had cut St. Louis' nine-game lead in half in the NL Central over the previous 1 1/2 weeks.
