Teen bicyclist hit by vehicle in JC

A 14-year-old boy was treated for serious injuries after hitting a moving vehicle in Jefferson City, Tuesday afternoon.

Police reports show the accident occurred at 4:51 p.m. at East McCarty Street and Doehla Drive.

The boy was found lying in the street after being hit by a vehicle driven by Jacob Rodemann, 34, Jefferson City.

The evidence at the scene along with witness statements revealed that the boy on the bicycle was going south on Doehla Drive and failed to stop at a posted stop sign before entering the intersection at East McCarty Street and being hit by the vehicle.

Rodemann was wearing a seat belt and had no reported injuries.

The accident is under investigation by the police department's traffic unit.
