Kate Kuse is marketing an American treat this summer in Jefferson City.

Kuse debuted Waddup Dawg, a travelling hot dog stand, in early June and has been wheeling it around town at least once a week throughout the past month. So far, she has sold hot dogs outside of the Modern Litho office on Stertzer Road and at downtown festivities for Salute to America and Thursday Night Live (although she sets up the cart outside the festival district, which is reserved for brick-and-mortar businesses).

Waddup Dawg sells hot dogs and bratwursts, with fresh local produce available as toppings and a brat flavor of the day.

"I really believe in supporting local businesses," Kuse said.

The hot dogs and brats are produced locally at Swiss Meat & Sausage Co. in Hermann, and the produce is from Root Cellar, which opened a Jefferson City location in May. She also sells Backer's potato chips produced in Fulton.

"As the summer goes on, I'm definitely going to pick up more. Come fall, we're going to do soups and stuff like that," Kuse said, noting she will put away the food cart for the winter.

Kuse opened another business, Capital City Concierge Services, last fall and began dedicating herself to it full-time in June, when she opened the hot dog stand to supplement income from the concierge service. Waddup Dawg operates under the umbrella of Capital City Concierge Services.

To find out when and where Waddup Dawg will be open for business, follow @waddupdogjc on Twitter or check Capital City Concierge Services' Facebook page for updates.

The hot dog cart accepts cash as well as debit and credit cards.
