Texas murder suspect caught in JC

Jefferson City police have captured a Texas murder suspect.

On Tuesday, Jefferson City police received information that a murder suspect from Chambers County, Texas, may have traveled to the Jefferson City area to evade authorities.

Police detectives began working with the Texas Rangers and Chambers County law enforcement to develop information on possible locations where the suspect may have been staying or hiding.

The suspect, Kenneth Williams, 33, was wanted for felony murder of a woman on June 14.

On July 1, police observed a person matching the suspect's description in the 3400 block of North Ten Mile Drive. Detectives set up surveillance in an effort to determine if the person was Williams.

Once confirmed, detectives and community action team members were able to approach and take the suspect into custody without incident.

Williams was taken to the Cole County Jail pending questioning by the Texas Rangers. They will extradite the suspect back to Texas.

In addition, Williams was in the company of Alexandria Barnes, 22, who was also arrested on a warrant for hindering apprehension or prosecution, which is a felony.

As of Thursday, she was in the Cole County Jail awaiting extradition.
