Fireworks, barbecues and family get-togethers are part of many Lake of the Ozarks area residents' and visitors' celebrations for the Fourth of July.

As part of the festivities, many Lake area resorts and entertainment venues have scheduled local and regionally recognized bands for rocking out during the Independence Day weekend. However, some have slated nationally known musicians for the American holiday.

Bret Michaels brings "True Grit' to Pickleheads

He's told fans "Every Rose Has Its Thorn" with incredible success as front man of legendary 1980s hair metal band Poison. Michaels' new album, "True Grit," features three new original tracks and 18 previously released country-rock tracks from his last four studio albums, according to the artist's website. However, the songs are new renditions of the former tracks.

Ozark Mountain Daredevils rock out in home state

Originally based in Springfield, the Ozark Mountain Daredevils hit gold status back in the 1970s with two records, "If You Wanna Get To Heaven" and "Jackie Blue."

This jumpstart to stardom from their 1973 debut album and follow-up collection "It'll Shine When It Shines" led to additional releases with great success for the influential country-rock stars for decades.

After some time away from the limelight in the 1980s, original bandmates John Dillon, Steve Cash and Michael "Supe" Granda recruited some new "daredevils" to the lineup, according to OzarksAmphitheater.com.

Now, with released compilations of the band's big hits and additional tunes to rock out on stage, the Ozark Mountain Daredevils continue to deliver their 35 years of service to their country-rock craft Friday at the newly opened Ozarks Amphitheater in Camdenton.

Special guests Cindy Woolf and Mark Bilyeu will take to the stage the same night, showcasing some of their 10 years of acoustic, singer-songwriter, folksy sound of original music for audiences.

Doors open at 6 p.m. with the show starting at 7 p.m.

Ozarks Amphitheater is located at 2367 N. Business Missouri 5 in Camdenton. For more information or to order tickets, visit OzarksAmphitheater.com or call 573-346-0000.

Cate Brothers return to perform in Camdenton

Tom Walston delivers just a handful of concerts each year at his popular restaurant and bar, Malarkey's, in the heart of Camdenton.

According to information provided by Walston, The Cate Brothers, comprised of Earl and Ernie Cate, twin brothers who grew up near Springdale, Arkansas, have been writing and performing their unique style of soulful rock music for more than 40 years.
