Independence Day closings

Saturday's Independence Day holiday will create several different closing schedules this week.

Lincoln University, which normally is closed on Fridays in the summer, also will be closed today.

Federal, state, county and city offices will be closed Friday, except for emergency services, such as law enforcement and fire protection.

The Missouri State Archives, 600 W. Main St., will be closed both Friday and Saturday.

The Jefferson City Transit System, "Jefftran," will not operate Friday.

The city's yard waste dropoff site, 2417 Southridge Drive, will be closed Friday.

Republic Services/Allied Waste will make its scheduled collections Saturday, but its business office and landfill will be closed.

Most financial institutions and many businesses also will be closed Friday, but most retail businesses will be open Friday and Saturday, although some with reduced hours.

The U.S. Postal Service will operate on a regular schedule Friday but is closed on Saturday, and won't provide regular home deliveries or collections on Saturday.

The Missouri River Regional Library in Jefferson City and Linn is closing at 5 p.m. Friday and will be closed Saturday.

The Daniel Boone Regional Library, serving Boone and Callaway counties; and the Heartland Library in Maries and Miller counties will be closed Saturday.

No publication

The News Tribune Co. offices will be closed Friday and no newspaper will be published Saturday.

Publication will resume with Sunday's News Tribune, and the business office operations will resume Monday.
