Jefferson City man dies in Cole County wreck

A Jefferson City man died Tuesday night from injuries he received in a one-vehicle crash in rural Cole County.

The Missouri Highway Patrol reports Jude A. Koenigsfeld, 21, was pronounced dead at the scene of the accident, which occurred around 9:15 p.m. on Missouri 179 near Route T, northwest of Jefferson City. Three other passengers, all from Jefferson City, were injured.

The patrol reports a Toyota Camry driven by Gabriel R. Urbina, 19, also of Jefferson City, was travelling southbound, crossed over the center line, ran off the left side of the roadway and overturned, ejecting three of the passengers.

Bailey L. Thomas, 17, who received serious injuries, was flown by medical helicopter to University Hospital, Columbia.

Christian M. White, 17, and Shanna L. Orman, 16, received moderate injuries and were transported by ambulance to St. Mary's Hospital in Jefferson City.

The patrol listed no injuries for the driver, who was the only occupant reported as wearing a seat belt.

Emergency personnel responded on Tuesday night to a one-vehicle crash in rural Cole County.

Initial reports indicate one person died and others were injured around 9:15 p.m. when a vehicle rolled over in the 3400 block of Missouri 179, just east of Route T, northwest of Jefferson City.

In addition to law enforcement officers and firefighters, multiple ambulances responded to the wreck, including a Staff for Life helicopter.

The Missouri Highway Patrol is investigating the crash. Victim names won't be released until next of kin are notified.
