JC man is second charged in November robbery, chase

A second person has been charged in connection with a robbery and chase with authorities in November.

This week, Nathan Knight, 40, Jefferson City, was charged with first-degree robbery and first-degree assault in this case.

Dustin Felber, 30, was earlier charged with first-degree robbery, first-degree assault and armed criminal action.

Felber shot at his victim then led authorities on a chase in Cole and Callaway counties.

Felber also faces a string of felony charges out of Callaway County: assault against a law enforcement officer, armed criminal action, discharging a firearm from a moving vehicle, unlawful possession of a firearm, first-degree endangering the welfare of a child, receiving stolen property and resisting arrest.

Cole County lists Felber's residency in Lebanon, while Callaway County says he is a Jefferson City resident.

A Cole County Sheriff's Department probable cause statement shows Felber committed a robbery at a home in the 5900 block of Upton Road.

Jefferson City police spotted the suspect's car at a motel and attempted to stop him. Felber and the other man were both in the vehicle at this point, along with a woman and a baby. A chase ensued northbound on U.S. 54 to Missouri 94, then eastbound on 94.

As the pursuit left the Jefferson City limits, one of the occupants of the vehicle shot at the primary pursuing officer at least once. The pursuit eventually was terminated after the suspect's vehicle was disabled in a Callaway County.

A female acquaintance of Knight told authorities when Knight returned from going out with Felber he was visibly shaken and said Felber robbed a man at gunpoint and shot at him. She told authorities Knight got $50 of the money stolen from the robbery and kept the tools.

Knight eventually told authorities he did accompany Felber to see the victim for the tools.

After the deal was made for $125 or $150, Knight said Felber started yelling at the victim and pulled out a handgun, shooting beside the head of the victim.

Knight said Felber instructed him to load back up the items he had sold and take the cash as well. They also took some marijuana and a .22 rifle.
