Lincoln football player Walls invited to Showcase

Lincoln University senior Davon Walls will participate in the College Gridiron Showcase all-star game Saturday in Arlington, Texas.

The defensive lineman will have the opportunity to work out in front of professional scouts all week before playing in the contest, which will be held at Maverick Stadium on the campus of the University of Texas-Arlington at 1:30 p.m.

Walls played just one season with the Blue Tigers, but made it one to remember. He finished the 2014 season with a team-best 17.5 tackles for loss, ranking fourth in the Great Lakes Valley Conference and 33rd in NCAA Division II. Walls finished the year with 10 sacks, the fourth-most in the conference and the 19th-most in Division II.

Walls also had three quarterback hurries, a forced fumble and a blocked kick as well as 43 total tackles, including 30 solo.

Earlier this offseason, Walls was chosen to the Beyond Sports Network Division II All-Super Region 4 Third Team. He also was an all-GLVC first-team selection.

The College Gridiron Showcase features the top senior players from all levels of collegiate football. The practices and game will allow scouts representing teams from the National Football League, Canadian Football League and Arena Football League, among other professional organizations.

Walls will be a member of the "Desperados" team, where he will compete alongside a number of NCAA Division I athletes, including nine from teams in "Power Five" conferences.
