Cold-shooting Blue Tigers lose to Southwest Baptist

A cold-shooting first half Saturday doomed the Lincoln men as they dropped a 69-50 decision to the Southwest Baptist Bearcats in Mid-America Intercollegiate Athletics Association action at Jason Gym.

The Blue Tigers were just 7-of-29 from the field (24 percent) in the first half as the Bearcats rolled to a 39-22 lead at the break.

The Blue Tigers trailed just 11-9 with 12:30 remaining in the first half before the Bearcats went on an 8-2 run to take control. It was 25-20 with eight minutes remaining after a basket by Lincoln's Joshua Buie before Southwest Baptist went on a 14-2 run to close the half.

That momentum carried over into the second half. Southwest Baptist outscored Lincoln 15-3 in the first five minutes to take its biggest lead of the game at 54-25.

Malcolm McDonald finished with 12 points and eight rebounds to lead Lincoln, while Buie chipped in with 11 points.

Daymond Cowlah totaled 15 points to pace Southwest Baptist (9-11 overall, 4-7 MIAA). Finn Delany added 13.

Lincoln (4-15, 1-9), which has dropped its last nine games, will host Missouri Western in a conference contest at 7:30 p.m. Thursday.
