St. Louis man faces LU arson charge

A St. Louis man has been charged with setting a fire at Lincoln University in Jefferson City.

Michael Jones, 19, is charged with one count of second-degree arson for setting a fire at Tull Hall on Dec. 9.

Court documents show the fire was on the second floor and investigators found ash from burned paper and damage to a wall next to the elevator.

A video surveillance camera showed Jones with a lighter next to the paper and elevator.

When interviewed, Jones admitted to lighting a piece of paper on the wall and threw the lighter away between Foster and Allen halls.

There were approximately 50 students living in Tull Hall at the time the fire occurred.
