Pitts stepping down as head football coach at Helias

To take position at collegiate level

Helias head football coach Phil Pitts announced this morning he will be stepping down from his position.

Pitts, who has been the head coach at Helias for the past four seasons, will be taking a coaching position at the collegiate level. His last day at Helias will be Friday.

Pitts, a math teacher, has served as a coach for a total of 10 years at Helias. He led the Crusaders to Class 4 runner-up finishes in 2012 and 2013. A graduate of Helias, Pitts played collegiately at the University of Missouri.

In a release from the school this morning, Helias activities director Brad Dempsey said the search for Pitts' replacement will begin soon.
