Rolla boys beat Helias in battle of state-ranked teams

ROLLA, Mo. - The Rolla Bulldogs led virtually all game long and won a battle of ranked Class 4 squads Friday night, handling the Helias Crusaders 60-46.

Helias, the No. 1 team in the state, led just once, that coming at 13-12 in the first quarter. Otherwise, fourth-ranked Rolla was in control, leading 14-13 after one quarter, 26-20 at halftime and 38-33 after three periods.

Collin Caywood was the only Crusader to reach double figures with 19 points, and he had all of them in the first half. He was the only option for Helias in that half, scoring all 13 of the team's points in the opening quarter and six of seven in the second.

Trevor Koelling and Sam Husting were next for Helias with six points apiece.

For Rolla, Caleb Copeland led he way with 19 points and Sam Marshall had 14. Kobe Wands and his brother, Carter Wands, both chipped in nine points.

Helias drops to 11-3 on the season and Rolla improves to 12-2. Both teams are assigned to the District 10 Tournament that will be hosted by School of the Osage.
