A Columbia man is dead after a single-vehicle accident in Callaway County on Wednesday afternoon.
According to a report from the Missouri State Highway Patrol, Danny Boyken, 52, of Columbia, was killed when his Freightliner dump truck went off the road on County Road 325 near the Fulton-Elton Hensley Memorial Airport.
The report stated that Boyken's vehicle exited the left side of the roadway and overturned. Sgt. Paul Reinsch with MSHP Troop F said Thursday that Boyken - who was not wearing a safety device - was ejected from the truck. He was pronounced dead at the scene by University of Missouri Medical Examiner Dori Burke at 1:21 p.m. Wednesday.
Reinsch said a cause for the accident has not yet been determined, and the investigation is ongoing.
"Our major crash team is on the scene, and sometimes that can take weeks," Reinsch said.
