Vogel to run for JC mayor

A fourth candidate in the race for Jefferson City mayor filed for the April election, Wednesday morning.

Edith Vogel joins Bob Scrivner, Leonard J.Steinman II and Carrie Tergin on the ballot.

Vogel is a Helias High School graduate. She later attended the Jefferson City School of Practical Nursing and became a licensed practical nurse.

Vogel noted she's "a dedicated community leader" who has been a member of parish councils at both St. Peter and St. Joseph Cathedral churches.

She also has served in the St. Mary's Auxiliary, Elks, Cole County Historical Society, United Way Distribution panel, Cole County Republican Committee and as a commissioner on Jefferson City's Parks and Recreation Commission.

During her eight years' service on Jefferson City's Council, she served four years as mayor pro tem.

Vogel previously has been a representative on the Cole County Community Committee and the 2000 Census Committee.

She said she is "steeped with a very strong sense of community, a trait she credits to her great-grandfather, who started a business in Jefferson City in 1892."
