Boys Basketball: Hermann 28, Russellville 13

MOKANE, Mo. - Hermann shut out Russellville in two different quarters and won a low-scoring affair 28-13 in the opening round of the South Callaway Tournament.

Hermann, the second seed, led just 3-0 after one quarter and 8-0 at halftime. The Bearcats outscored the Indians 4-2 in the third quarter, as Hermann took a 12-2 edge into the fourth.

The teams exploded for 27 total points in the final period, with Hermann holding a 16-11 edge.

Mat Hug scored a game-high 11 points for Hermann. Three different Russellville players tied for the team lead with three points apiece.

Seventh-seeded Russellville will play sixth-seeded New Haven at 7:30 p.m. Thursday in a loser's bracket semifinal game.
