Boys Basketball: California Tournament results

CALIFORNIA, Mo. - California, Fulton, Mexico and Fatima were winners Tuesday in the first round of the California Tournament.

Nolan Huot and Jared Schulte each scored 24 points as fourth-seeded Fatima eased past fifth-seeded Southern Boone, 68-36.

The Comets led 18-5 after one quarter, 29-16 at the half and 60-31 after three quarters.

Fatima (8-2) plays in Thursday's winner's bracket semifinals against top-seeded California, which slipped past eighth-seeded Marshall 56-55.

Jaden Barr poured in 26 points to lead California to the victory. Drew Norton chipped in 14 points for the Pintos.

The game was tight throughout. The Pintos (9-0) led 16-11 after one quarter, 28-26 at the half and 40-37 entering the fourth quarter.

Third-seeded Mexico defeated sixth-seeded Lebanon 75-54 and plays second-seeded Fulton, a 76-73 winner against seventh-seeded Boonville, at 7:30 p.m. Thursday in the winner's bracket semifinals.
