PR firm that worked with Ferguson files suit for payment

FERGUSON, Mo. (AP) - The company hired to do public relations for Ferguson after the unrest that followed the fatal shooting of Michael Brown by a police officer is suing over breach of contract.

The St. Louis Post-Dispatch (http://bit.ly/14zbiSc) reports that the Devin James Group filed suit Wednesday against the St. Louis-based public relations firm Elasticity.

Elasticity and the Devin James Group were hired by the St. Louis Economic Development Partnership. The suit alleges that James submitted invoices for $50,000, but Elasticity refused to pay.

Elasticity partner Aaron Perlut says his company never had a contract with James, the economic partnership did. He says the partnership is still determining what it owes James.

The partnership fired James in October after learning about his 2006 conviction for killing an unarmed man.
