Your Opinion: Consumers spark economic growth

Dear Editor:

Well Christmas sales are great. Saturday after Christmas was bigger than Black Friday so things have been going along very well. Jobs have been available and President Obama and the Democrats have been stroking their egos and how well the country has been doing under the Democrats. So all you have to do is ask what have they actually done. Nothing. Obamacare has not grown the country.

The Republicans would also like to take credit for the economy but again ask yourself what have they done. Nothing.

Outsourcing our jobs to foreign countries is our single biggest economic enemy to our economy and job growth we face. We are now rated as the second largest economic country in the world. We are mostly a consumer nation and frightful as that may be we are not a self-relying country in a log of manufacturing aspects. I am not any type of economist but just a regular down-to-earth American who takes the time to read articles.

So we should give credit to the American people small business who are the heart of this economy and credit growth with or without government regulations. We have created economic growth in the face of many hurtles. They have pulled big business along with them kicking and screaming because they have been taking the profit and not hiring people.

The economic cycle is what consumers and big corporations go through if money is tight. They stop spending on all but necessary items. They will make due with an old car, TV, refrigerator and make due until they have the money to purchase a better item. With gas prices being the lowest for several years that loosens up money. That increases consumer spending.

We shouldn't consider lower gas prices as a detriment to our country but a helpful hand to increase consumer purchases. It helps every one from truckers to utility. It is the single most common product involved in almost every aspect of our economy.

So we should all give ourselves a big hand to increasing our economic growth.
