Wilson's Fitness should be moved completely to its new Jefferson City location by the evening of Jan. 6, said owner Keri Austin.
The personal-training and fitness center has been located at Capital Mall for the past 14 years, and is moving across the mall to the former Capital 4 Theaters location between the JCPenney and Dillard's wings to make way for a Ross department store.
The formal move had been planned for Jan. 1, but was pushed back a few days. The actual moving of equipment has been ongoing over the past few weeks, as large pieces of equipment can only be moved one at a time, Austin said.
Although the new location technically is smaller, it will allow for a larger group exercise room and some new equipment.
"We're "right-sizing' for the economy and for the competition that has come about in Jefferson City," Austin said, noting other health clubs like Planet Fitness and CrossFit have opened as well. "With different competition, this allows us to focus on what we do best with our personal training and personalized attention."
