Pedestrian killed on Stadium Boulevard in Columbia

COLUMBIA, Mo. (AP) - A 54-year-old man is dead after being struck by two cars while trying to cross Stadium Boulevard in Columbia.

The accident happened Wednesday evening. The victim was Jackie O. Cheatom of Columbia.

Police say the 56-year-old driver of the first car that struck Cheatom says she did not see him. He was still in the roadway when a car driven by a 59-year-old woman ran over him.

Cheatom was taken to a hospital where he was pronounced dead.

An investigation continues but police says neither driver was under the influence of drugs or alcohol. Police say careless driving also was not a factor.
