Tuscumbia takes Class 1 District 9 title

JAMESTOWN, Mo. - The Tuscumbia Lady Lions advanced to the Class 1 state tournament Friday night with a 79-42 win against Jamestown in the title game of the District 9 Tournament.

Tuscumbia led just 19-14 after one quarter before stretching that advantage to 47-30 at the half. The Lady Lions took a 68-36 advantage into the final period.

Kendra Vaughan finished with a game-high 29 points for Tuscumbia, while TaKayla Gunter added 21.

Mackenzie Strother paced Jamestown with 14 points, while Ali Muri added 12.

Tuscumbia (25-3) will play the District 10 champion in the sectional at 7:45 p.m. Tuesday at Sturgeon High School. Glasgow (17-9) and Higbee (21-6) will meet for the District 10 title this afternoon in Glasgow.
