Local man faces child abuse charge

A Jefferson City man is charged with one count of felony child abuse following an incident earlier this week.

Blaine Kremesec, 59, is accused of causing physical injury to a female relative under the age of 17.

A Cole County Sheriff's Department probable cause statement shows the victim told authorities Kremesec had been drinking prior to the incident. She said Kremesec struck her, knocked her to the ground and attempted to drag her down some stairs.

She also said Kremesec yelled at her, grabbed her by her sweater and broke her necklace. She then locked herself in a bathroom to get away from Kremesec and he kicked the door in, hitting the victim on her wrist.

The victim had marks on her left wrist, right upper chest, lower back and right ankle as a result of the assault.

Authorities said Kremesec was not cooperative in telling his side of what happened, but did say the victim had mental issues and was suicidal.

Deputies looked in the bathroom where the attack occurred and found damage to the lock area of the door and there was a mark on the wall where the door had struck it.
