ST. JAMES - The Blair Oaks Falcons and Eugene Eagles advanced to the championship game of the Class 3 District 9 Tournament with victories Thursday night.
Blair Oaks, the top seed in the event, got a pair of buzzer-beating 3-pointers in an 81-43 rout of the fifth-seeded Steelville Cardinals.
The Falcons took a 22-14 lead after one quarter and stretched it to 47-22 at intermission, thanks in part to a three-quarter-court 3 from C.J. Closser as time ran out in the half.
Blair Oaks' Cody Alexander later hit a deep 3 as time expired in the third quarter to make it 72-37. The entire fourth quarter was played with a running clock due to the mercy rule.
A total of 10 Falcons scored in the contest, led by Kory Franks' 18 points. Alexander added 13, Owen Luebbering chipped in with 12 and Jason Rackers added 10.
Second-seeded Eugene moved on with a 50-45 win against third-seeded Fatima.
