Area residents hurt in accidents

A Lake Ozark man was injured in a one-vehicle accident at 4:30 a.m. Thursday on U.S. 54 east of Missouri 17 in Cole County.

According to the Missouri Highway Patrol report a 2002 Jeep Liberty, driven eastbound by Michael C. Pope, 61, travelled off the road, went across the median and westbound lanes and down an embankment The vehicle then struck the westbound outer road and came to rest in a ditch.

Pope was taken to Capital Region Medical Center in Jefferson City.

He was wearing a seat belt.

• A Tipton woman was injured in a one-vehicle accident at 5:30 p.m. Wednesday on Marvin Cutoff east of Route W in Morgan County.

The patrol reported a 2003 Oldsmobile Alero, driven westbound by Britt L. Morrison, 38, traveled off the right side of the road and struck a mailbox.

She was taken to Lake Regional Hospital in Osage Beach.

Morrison was not wearing a seat belt.
