Boys Basketball: Class 1 District 9

JAMESTOWN - The St. Elizabeth Hornets dropped a 68-56 decision Tuesday night to Jamestown in the first round of the Class 1 District 9 Tournament.

Braydon Holtmeyer totaled a game-high 27 points for the sixth-seeded Hornets (3-22), who trailed 17-11 after one quarter and 30-19 at the half. Wyatt Stiles added 13.

Jamestown will face Tuscumbia at 7:30 p.m. Thursday in the semifinals.

In Tuesday night's final game, Zane Humphreys and Orrie Patterson both had double-doubles as Tuscumbia (17-8) defeated Missouri School for the Deaf 71-37.

Humphreys finished with 20 points and 10 rebounds, while Patterson totaled 15 points and 11 rebounds. Michael Deifenbach chipped in with 14 points for the winners.

Tuscumbia led 17-6 after one quarter and 39-12 at the half.

In Thursday night's first semifinal, top-seeded Pilot Grove will face fourth-seeded Prairie Home at 6 p.m. Pilot Grove dropped Bunceton 95-49 in Tuesday's first game, while Prairie Home was a 46-30 winner against Chamois in the second contest.
