2015 MADE In Missouri Competition announced

The Missouri Alliance for the Development of Entrepreneurship announced the launch of the 2015 MADE In Missouri State Entrepreneurship Competition in a recent news release. The MADE competition is open to anyone living in and wanting to start a business in Missouri. The business can be aspiring, new or in existence for fewer than three years.

The competition has two categories and two levels. There is a youth category for those 19 and younger. The open category is for any age 0 to 100. The preliminary round of competition ends May 31, and the final round ends in mid-August. Entrants receive tips and suggestions on how to make their business stronger, gain exposure to the public and have an opportunity to compete for funds to invest in their business.

"There are many ideas that can grow into a business. We want to help people change those ideas into a viable business," said Cheryl Zimny, community development manager with Missouri Valley Community Action Agency, in the release.

The preliminary competition begins as soon as someone goes to the website (MVCAA.net), downloads and completes the preliminary level entry information. Participants begin by answering a questionnaire about their business idea. It needs to be submitted by close of business May 31 via email to [email protected] as an attachment or by mail.

The judges provide tips, suggestions and referrals to strengthen the business of all entrants. Those judges score each business, and those with a high enough score move on to the final round in August. The finalists will then submit a business plan complete with financials, participate in a trade show and do an investor-style pitch. Winners in both categories will receive investment funding for their business. Funds will be awarded for first, second and third place in both categories.

For more information or to register, contact Zimny by mail at 1415 S. Odell; Marshall, MO 65340; by phone at 660-886-7476, ext. 816; or by email at [email protected].
