Gym-Zzouri competes at Dragon Invitational

BLUE SPRINGS - The Gym-Zzouri Gymnastics team recently traveled to the Great American Gymnastics Express Dragon Invitational.

Teams from Canada, Hawaii, Kansas and Missouri were in the competition. USA National team member Maddie Desch, a member of Great American Gymnastics Express in Blue Springs, competed in the meet, as did a member of the Canadian national team.

Gym-Zzouri gymnasts received awards in several different age group and divisions.

The Xcel Silver team took first place, with the following results: Lena Brown: first all around (36.55), first vault, first bars, first beam, first floor; Lilly Henley: second all around (35.175), second vault, second bars, second beam, second floor.

The Xcel Gold team took first. Here are its age-group results:

• 12-and-younger - Hayley Jones: second all around (32.875), first vault, second bars, fourth beam, second floor; Autumn Kempker: fourth all around (31.70), fourth vault, fourth bars, fourth beam, fourth floor; Audrey Muessig: first all around (33.45), second vault, first bars, first beam, first floor; Kailee Parker: third all around (32.40), third vault, third bars, second beam, third floor.

• 13-and-older - Betsy Morello: second all around (32.625), third vault, second bars, second beam, second floor; Tessa Uhlman: first all around (33.825), second vault, first bars, first beam, first floor.

On the Xcel Platinum Division all ages team, Raven Bridges took second in all around (34.20), second in vault, first in bars, second in beam, and second in floor.

The Xcel Diamond Division all ages team took first place with the following individuals: Maisy Borden: first all around (34.80), second vault, first bars, first beam, first floor; Rachel Holt: second all around (33.45), first vault, second bars, second beam, second floor.
