Lincoln women fall to Griffons

The Lincoln women's basketball team turned the ball over 22 times en route to a 77-49 loss to Missouri Western on Wednesday.

The Griffons (12-10, 7-9 Mid-American Intercollegiate Athletic Association) scored 20 points off takeaways and 13 on second-chance attempts.

Hunter Yaokum led the Blue Tigers (11-12, 6-11 MIAA) with 19 points, and Dorian Briggs scored 13.

LaQuinta Jefferson scored 24 for Missouri Western, and Novak Ariana scored 20.

Lincoln took the initial lead with two Kayton Cole free throws, but the Griffons went on a 13-1 run to take a lead they wouldn't lose. The closest the Blue Tigers would get the remainder of the game was a 17-13 deficit nine minutes in.

Kelsey Williams missed most of the second half with an injury.

The Blue Tigers will close out their home slate at 1:30 p.m. Saturday against Lindenwood.
