Missouri softball shuts out South Dakota State

CLERMONT, Fla. - The Missouri softball team wrapped up a 4-1 performance in the Dot Richardson Invitational with a 13-0 win against South Dakota State on Sunday.

The result was never in doubt after the Tigers scored three runs in the top of the first inning. Missouri added three more in the fifth and seven in the seventh to roll to the win.

Three Tiger pitchers combined on a two-hitter. Cheyenne Baxter got the win after working the first 4 1/3 innings. She allowed one hit and walked two while striking out five.

Tori Finucane came on to work the next 1 2/3 innings, giving up just one hit while striking out four. Paige Lowary finished up and struck out one in the hitless inning she worked.

Sami Fagan smacked a pair of home runs for the Tigers, driving in a total of five runs. Kirsten Mack had a solo homer, while Corrin Genovese had a single, triple and three RBI.

Also for Missouri, Emily Crane had three hits and two RBI and Taylor Gadbois rapped out three hits.

Missouri (4-1) will return to action Thursday through Saturday with five games in the Mary Nutter Classic in Cathedral City, Calif.
