Jefferson City to lose one RadioShack, keep one for now

National electronics chain RadioShack Corporation filed for bankruptcy Feb. 5, announcing it would close many of its stores nationwide and sell between 1,500 and 2,400 of them to General Wireless, an affiliate of Standard General. Up to 1,750 of those stores will be converted to "store within a store" retail presences marketing Sprint mobility products, according to RadioShack Corporation's news release.

On RadioShack's initial list of more than 1,700 potential store closings is the Jefferson City location inside Capital Mall at 3600 Country Club Drive. The store already has posted signs advertising discounted clearance sales.

RadioShack's second Jefferson City location in the Schnucks plaza at 1709 Missouri Blvd. is not on the list of potential closures. No information has been released at this time specifying whether the Missouri Boulevard store will be converted to a Sprint store.
