Lincoln women fall to Central Missouri

The Lincoln Blue Tigers women dropped a Mid-America Intercollegiate Athletic Association basketball decision to Central Missouri on Wednesday night at Jason Gym.

Central Missouri used an 8-0 run midway through the first half to push its lead to double digits on its way to a 78-63 victory.

A basket by Dorian Briggs with 12:14 remaining pulled Lincoln to within five at 12-7. But the Jennies rattled off the next eight points to take a 13-point advantage and led 35-26 at intermission.

Kate Frazier's layup with 15:18 to play got the Blue Tigers to within five again at 43-38. But the Jennies had the answer again, this time with an 11-0 run to put the game out of reach. The 16-point lead at 54-38 with 11:37 left was the biggest of the game for Central Missouri.

Renovia Howard led five Jennies in double figures with 15 points. Danielle Barry added 13, while Justina Prairie Chief added 12. Shelby Winkelmann and Jasmine Thompson chipped in with 11 points each for Central Missouri (15-8 overall, 9-6 MIAA).

It was Central Missouri's seventh straight win in the series against Lincoln and the 10th straight victory at Jason Gym.

Kelsey Williams tossed in a game-high 21 points for Lincoln, while Kayton Cole added 10.

Lincoln (10-11, 5-10) is back in action Saturday afternoon at Southwest Baptist. Game time is 1:30 p.m.
